ABOUT US

System Development

Spear Point Energy is an independent power producer and developer of distributed solar projects for commercial and industrial customers, municipalities and utilities in key markets throughout the United States. We finance, develop, build, own and operate solar power systems ranging in size from100 kilowatts to 25 megawatts each and sell renewable electricity at competitive rates to customers in North America. Distributed solar projects have permitting and interconnection advantages that enable Spear Point to have systems up and running quickly compared to large scale, centralized generation projects. Spear Point only uses proven solar photovoltaic technology to meet ever increasing energy demands with clean power located at the site where the energy is used.

Spear Point Energy’s mission is to provide reliable, competitive, distributed solar power systems throughout America. To this end, we offer a full turnkey solar solution providing all the benefits of green power without the capital expenditure or requirement for our customer to provide long term maintenance. Our distributed solar projects are perfect for rooftops, parking areas, and other on site property or building locations. These projects are well suited for both urban and rural sites. When determining the appropriate turnkey solution, we take many factors into account, including customer organization type. For example, we leverage the value of tax incentives that may not be available to our municipal customers which will result in impactful savings. Our 100 kilowatts – 25 megawatts systems are able to be built and interconnected with less permitting and time than larger centralized projects which helps our utility customers meet their renewable energy goals at competitive prices. For our commercial customers, there are many issues that we understand and develop creative solutions to, including but not limited to, Landlord/Tenant relationship, Building Owner/Lender relationship, and Lease considerations.

Spear Point manages all phases of projects from initial analysis to determine our customer’s needs, through entering into site agreement, full engineering, procurement, construction and long term ongoing maintenance.

Maintenance and Monitoring

As part of the full turnkey service, Spear Point manages the maintenance and operations of our installed systems, throughout the customer’s contract period. Spear Point employs a monitoring service that continuously scans the operational status and performance of the solar system and automatically identifies system outages and performance deficiencies to ensure that our customer’s electricity is delivered as promised. Spear Point also handles and manages any warranty related issues with equipment manufacturers and contracted installers. Typical solar systems have a design life in excess of 25 years.

Financing

Thanks to declining equipment costs and a combination of federal, state, and electric utility project incentives, PV projects are becoming increasingly more viable within the United States. However, local subsidies and regulatory landscape is varied, quite complex and ever changing. There is great diversity in the amount of per – watt payments, the duration of performance payments, nameplate capacity restrictions on utility payouts and the cost of avoided electricity. Spear Point works with customers to analyze their needs, their site, the interconnection, and their current electricity rates. We analyze and discuss the benefits of a solar system and determine what incentives are available where each particular project is located. We then make a proposal in which Spear Point would design, engineer, procure, construct, own and operate the solar system. Through a solar power purchase agreement, Spear Point provides the opportunity for the host site to acquire the electricity produced from the solar system at a long term predictable rate which is less than current electricity rates offered by standard utilities. With continually increasing energy rates this allows our customers to have lower cost electricity while not having the upfront cost. To be able to provide lower cost electricity to our customers, Spear Point organizes, applies for and attains all available incentives and rebates and applies them to the cost of the system. Spear Point and its investors provide the balance of capital required to complete the system.
