Spear Point Energy has developed a phased group of 4 solar projects through a PPA and site lease agreement with the Board of Commissioners of Washington County, Maryland. The 4 solar projects have a combined system size of 10 MW DC and will be located across various Washington County unused landfill sites near Hagerstown, in western Maryland. The first 2.5 MW ground mount project called Creek was placed in service in April 2015 ahead of schedule and under budget. Spear Point Energy and its builder partner worked with Potomac Edison, the utility serving approximately 400,000 customers in Maryland and West Virginia, to interconnect the project. The Creek project is an important achievement for Washington County as they move towards their environmental goals. Partnering with Spear Point, the County will generate power savings and rental revenue for unused ground, as well as cover all of its electricity needs over the next 20 years with clean renewable energy.
