Spear Point Energy has developed a phased group of 4 solar projects through a PPA and site lease agreement with the Board of Commissioners of Washington County, Maryland. The 4 solar projects have a combined system size of 10 MW DC and will be located across various Washington County unused landfill sites near Hagerstown, in western Maryland. The second 2.5 MW ground mount project called Rubble 1 is expected to be placed in service in the Spring of 2015. Spear Point Energy and its builder partner will work with Potomac Edison, the utility serving approximately 400,000 customers in Maryland and West Virginia, to interconnect the project. In conjunction Phase 1 project, Rubble 1 will further Washington County’s achievements as a pioneer in renewable energy. Partnering with Spear Point, the County will generate power savings and rental revenue for unused ground, as well as cover all of its electricity needs over the next 20 years with clean renewable energy.
